*MICROSOFT LOCKS IN NEW SECURITY BOSS
By Jay Breitling
Microsoft late Thursday said it named information security expert Scott
Charney as the company's new chief security strategist, replacing former
Chief Security Officer Howard Schmidt.

In his new role, Charney is charged with developing strategies to enhance
the security of Microsoft products and services to support the company's
new
"Trustworthy Computing" initiative. The recently unveiled plan, reportedly
one of founder Bill Gates' highest priorities for the company, aims to
ensure the security and privacy of Microsoft's .Net platform and other
products and services.

Charney begins his new duties April 1. He will oversee the company's
Security Strategies Group, which is responsible for the development of
theTrustworthy Computing environment, according to Microsoft. Charney will
fill a void left by Schmidt, who recently assumed the vice chairmanship of
the federal Critical Infrastructure Protection Board.

*************************************************

So, we have the gentleman who has been responsible for the incredibly rich
security features in Microsofts products who is now helping to protect the
Federal Governments systems.

What a warm-n-fuzzy that gives me...

Charles
