Job Title: System Administrator
Summary: Design/perform software builds, manage version control, and releases
in a development environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may
be assigned.
Maintain UNIX/Linux operating systems and apply operating system patches.
Deploy new releases of EzGov applications into the development, testing, and
production environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise in the UNIX/Linux server
environment, including issues with deployed applications.
Ensure UNIX systems are fully functioning 7 x 24 x 365.
Provide weekly formal status reports and frequent informal status of
UNIX/Linux Server environment issues.
Administer development UNIX Servers, Web Servers, and Databases
Administer UCM ClearCase and ClearQuest integration in an interoperable
UNIX/Win2000 environment
Manage automated tools/scripts to build and install application releases to
the development, test and production environments.
Troubleshoot problems related to UNIX Server environment
Maintain enhancement requests and defects for EzGov development projects
Develop and distribute metrics reports from ClearCase/ClearQuest.
Develop and train new users on ClearCase, ClearQuest and change / release
management procedures.
Design and automate new development processes
Install Rational Tools and UNIX and apply latest patches and releases as
necessary
Key Performance Indicators and Goals
Availability of UNIX/Linux servers (99.5%).
Customer satisfaction based on internal and external surveys (90%).
On-time resolution to assigned activities (95%).
Successful backup and recovery during ad-hoc requests (99%).
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
BachelorâÂÂs degree
At least 1 year of experience in managing Solaris or Linux operating systems
At least 1 year of experience with an industry standard webserver (iPlanet,
Websphere, Tomcat.)
At least 1 year experience writing UNIX shell scripts or perl scripts.
BachelorâÂÂs Degree in computer science or related degree, plus working
experience with ClearCase/ClearQuest or some comparable revision/change
management software.
1 Year Experience in a UNIX/Linux environment
Excellent organization skills
Methodology background, preferably RUP
Language Ability: Strong writing and oral communication skills required.
Outgoing personality.
Travel
Minimal.
Hours
This is a salaried position. Forty or more hours a week are required in this
job. Opportunity to work off-hours shifts. Will be required to carry a
pager.
