[ale] USB Cam (LONG)

I have a concern, though - and in revealing it, I plan to reveal
considerable ignorance regarding USB, SmartCards, etc.

Won't the cam write images to the SmartMedia card in the same manner
that it writes them internally? Or, is the SmartMedia card's "file
format" universal among SmartMedia cards?

By the way, at Ginstar, I saw a 6-in-1 card reader - a doohickey (I
think it was USB) that installed into a floppy bay and appeared to
accept SmartMedia cards, Sony Memory Sticks, and a few other similar
things. Are those readers usable under Linux?
