my aim? to have a system that is as silent and cheep as possible while
having 1.4 - 2 ghz speed and as few a moving parts as possible :)

i believe what i will end up doing is getting a micro mobo with 150 wt psu
and see if i cant get it in a +2 ghz cpu so i can underclock it while
using one of those copper butterfly or what not cpu's if i need fans ill
use the 12v undervolted to 5-7v range ill use a lcd thermal checker of
some kind that either uses built thermisister or comes with one and while
im at it maybe even get one of those sexy modded cases with a penguin
etched on the seethrough panel ;) on the net there was an article and
someone set a fan to 7v which supposedly ran just as quiet but faster than
setting it to 5v

there seems to be some interesting things possible :) for instance tests
seemed to show that underclocking a cpu by 6% gave a -4% performance and
-18% heat! thats pretty sweet for a hot tbird :) seems underclocking it
with a better heat sink and quiet fan might work ;) btw that was done with
a 1.499 mhz tbird oh and i dont remember how much volts he shaved off but
the tbird became stable at roughly 1.4 or a shave under so fyi :)

anyways this is my findings of what seems to be the best, havent gotten
into harddrives but ill probobly use one of those maxtor 200gig 8mb cashe,
anyone got any input on these drives? think they will be converted to
serial ata soon?
