On July 21, 1992, the House passed H.R. 5318, the Conditional 
Most-Favored-Nation Trade Status for China Act, by a vote of 339-62, and 
on September 14, 1992, the Senate passed it, with an amendment, by 
unanimous consent. On September 22, the House agreed to the Senate 
version of H.R. 5318 by voice vote. On September 28, 1992, the President 
vetoed H.R. 5318. On September 30, the House voted to override the 
President's veto by a vote of 345-74.

Read on to see that 91% of the Democrats favored MFN status for China 
while 81% of the Republicans opposed it
