I was having a problem getting all of the Windows machines the ability to
write to a shared directory. The solution was to add the line "[homes] "
Without that line, Samba was not completely authorizing the users to write,
but did allow the users to read.
The next problem is that is seems as though I must start Win before Lin.
1. I turn on the Win boxes. I turn on the Linux Samba server. Everything
works right.
2. I turn OFF the Win boxes. I turn the Win boxes on. (The Linux server stays
up) The Win boxes CANNOT see each other and cannot see the server.
3. To fix the problem, I must shut down the Linux box, start the Windows
machines (which see each other again) and then start the server.
One would think that it would be common for Win boxes to be shutdown and
turned on around a Lin server. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a
solution that will allow me to drop my Win boxes without losing network
connectivity?
