I don't use these myself, so they may not be entirely accurate. But
this should get you started. The syntax of the color command is:
color index <foreground> <background> [pattern]
Replace the foreground and background colors with whatever you want.
Also see the man page for mutt and muttrc for more details on colors and
patterns.
Try putting these commands in your ~/.muttrc :
> new, to me, from dad at hisisp.com
color index magenta default "~N ~p ~f dad at hisisp.com"
The ~p pattern means "addressed to you", and assumes that you have set a
variable in your .muttrc called "alternates", which contains all your
email addresses. If you haven't set that, you can use
"~C Robert.L.Harris at rdlg.net" instead.

color index red default "~N !~p ~f jane at aol.com"
> new, not to me directly but from list at one_of_my_lists.com
color index blue default "~N !~p ~f list at one_of_my_lists.com"
You'll probably have to play with this last one a bit, because if you're
Cc'd (like this message is) the !~p test will probably fail.
