[ale] Mandrake can't network

Since you have said that you have a link light but dhcp isn't working:
you must have the correct module loaded? Check with lsmod
you might have ipchains or iptables rules blocking. check with ipchains
-L -n -v or iptables -L -n -v
you should check arp. arp -a should list local LAN MACs
you can try setting up static IPs for testing with ping.
Let us know what you get.
