Of the Sony cameras listed on the linux1394 site, the majority of them
are listed as 'works great.' Many are 'works,' and there are a few that
are listed as 'somewhat' and 'unknown.'
My expectation is that if that many of their cameras work, then they are
probably pretty dead on the spec. Further, because the permit their
various devices to work together via i-link, it's unlikely they'll be
breaking their own compatibility.

Actually, I don't believe that is correct. My previous camera used hi8
tapes, which provided a higher resolution, but was not digital. All
cameras that use miniDV are digital as in miniDigitalVideo.
