you should probably run some 3rd party software to check how
much memory your OS is really addressing.

I have a gig of RAM and my Windows 98 box runs just
fine. I am using an Athlon processor and an Asus
A7v333 mobo. My Celeron has run on close to what you are talking about and it has never
