 but is it using the 1gb of memory? or is it ignoring half of it?

"Vcache is limited internally to a maximum cache size of 800MB.
This problem may occur more readily with...AGP video adaptors...For example, if Vcache is using a maximum cache size of 800MB and a AGP [card] has a 128MB aperature mapped, there is very little address space remaining for the other system code and data that must occupy this range of vitual addresses".
you should probably run some 3rd party software to check how much memory your OS is really addressing.
