[ale] rpm dependency...but the files right there, damn it...

When installing the etherape rpm, it kept complaining that it needed
libdb.so.3.  This lib is in /usr/lib, so I can't understand why it thinks
it's not there.  Anyway, I went ahead and installed using rpm --nodeps,
but now apt-rpm is complaining that it's an unmet dependency as well, even
though it's already installed.

How should I go about fixing/researching what might be causing this?
