I will second the Camedia. I have an Olympus Camedia C-3000Z and its very
nice. My USB smartmedia reader mounts up like a scsi disk, and the camera
is also supported by gphoto2 should I decide to load the pictures up from
the camera directly into konqueror or something.
I also will say to the person who started this thread, that any camera
that only does 800x600 is not a "great digital camera". You can buy cheap
1-megapixel cameras but dont expect to be able to take high-quality
pictures with them. I'd spend the extra bucks and go at least 3
megapixel if you plan on making any of your pictures into actual prints
(and for that I recommend shutterfly.com). For quick-and-dirty pictures
like taking snapshots of stuff you're going to sell on ebay or something,
1 megapixel is fine.
With the advent of 4-5 megapixel cameras, the 3.3s have dropped in price.
Mine was $499 when I bought it a year ago. Mysimon.com now lists several
between $200-$300, including the Olympus Camedia C-3020.
