[ale] SMC EZNET 10/100 and issues with Redhat 7.1

If I remember correctly, the SCYLD drivers don't like the way certain things are linked in the RedHat 7.x kernel setup. I'm at work now, but when I get home I can check it. Some people on the mailing lists at SCYLD helped me to solve this problem when I encountered it.

But I should add that in my own experience, the new 2.4.x kernels have more up to date drivers for NIC's and I haven't needed to download the ones from SCYLD.

I have friend that's trying to get his network card working on
Redhat 7.1 and he's having all kinds of problems.  The card he's using is a
SMC EZNET 10/100, based on the RealTek 8139.   We have pulled down the
drivers from scyld but they won't compile with either kgcc or gcc.  Anyone
gone through this pain yet...
