Just some info I thought I should add.

I have an internal dsl modem on the win2k box (hence having to use it as the
server). I have an extra ethernet card in there.  I'd like to be able to
hook up the linux laptop directly to that. I don't think I need a hub.

The laptop is a Toshiba Tecra 8000 running Progeny.
