[ale] VFS ??

My logs are getting packed wit the following:

Feb 20 08:32:24 archimedes kernel: VFS: Disk change detected on device sr(11,0) 
Feb 20 08:32:56 archimedes last message repeated 32 times
Feb 20 08:33:57 archimedes last message repeated 60 times

What is VFS? Virtual File System? How do I get it to shut up? There is a
device sr0 (11,0), but not an sr (11,0). What is device sr0?
