[ale] sending mail to bellsouth.net

I had o do the same. I believe earthlink bloked all traffic from port 25 on
the internal network. That is why I made the change. Sendmail would
timeout sending mail unless it used earthlink as a relay host.

I had this problem with Earthlink. I resolved it by setting sendmail to
use earthlink's mta (smtp.earthlink.com) as a relay agent. So the mail
was sent from my sendmail with my headers but was forwarded by earthlink
(my ISP). Since the mail was incomming on a line that earthlink knew I
was attached to, the relay was allowed.

your IP address resolves to a valid hostname, they will drop your mail on
the assumption that you are a spammer.
