[ale] JDK 1.3 plugin

On a slightly off-topic branch of this question, what
causes bus error messages? I've been debugging an
application on Unix that sometimes dumps core with a
"Bus Error" message. I usually know where in the code
it was at, but can't tell exactly what it thought it
was doing.
