[ale] KPPP/modem init string & fonts under web browser.

I installed Mandrake 6.1 on a system last night and set up a dial-up
connection to the I-net. Not something that I had ever done before under
Linux and I am very pleased with how little time it really took. I have one
little question. I noticed that web pages load slower than on my Windoze
machine. Now, I know it's not the OS so it must be the settings in the KPPP
program. Specifically, my guess is that I need a good init string for my
modem. It seems to me that KPPP just loads a generic string. I have a USR
56k V.90 modem (external). Anyone have any suggestions about settings under
KPPP that would improve performance??

Second question, I have noticed in the past (on several machines actually)
that on many web pages under Netscape/Linux the fonts are all screwy. It is
really tiny and really hard to read. Now, I have even found some pages
under IE and Windoze that do the same thing. Any suggestions??? Its
driving me crazy!!

Thanks

Keith Murphy
