you're in luck
redhat has a nice little upgrade feature
if you make a 6.1 boot disk, or boot from the 6.1 cd, it'll ask you if you
want to install a new system or upgrade a previous one

as far as the installation of XFree86 and kernel upgrades, just mail the
error messages you get to the list, and we'll be glad to help you
