That's crap. Insist on the 3com boomerang nic and the Alcatel "modem".
It's a great combination. What they don't want to tell you about are the
numbers of stupid NT/9x users who would plug the ethernet line from the
Alcatel box into their mini-hub and crash their boxes and cause
countless wasted support hours trying to get that combo to work. The
DHCP server is pegged to the MAC address of the device. When 2 different
MACs would show up with the same IP, their routers would have problems.
Stupid windows people. :(-
