[ale] Trouble with Word Perfect for LInux

Well I found a fix but I don't know why it works. If I reconfigure the X
configuration using XF86Setup versus xf86config then it works like a charm.
Backspace and all. This is enough to get the machien working again so I'm happy
although I would really like to know why this fixes it.
