	To be perfectly honest with you, I don't have any personal experience
with the problem.  When notables such as Linus and Alan say don't do that,
I tend to take note.  I do believe though that it was configuration dependent
somehow, and that if you ran into the problem, you were pretty much assured
that your configuration would continue to have problems.  That is really
begining to stretch what I remember of the discussion, however...
