[ale] I am having a Linux Problem

Hi

Someone who was helping me with a modem problem I am having in Red Hat
Linux 5.0, said that I should email to get help.  I am trying to get
my modem to connect to mindspring.

When I dial the modem, I can hear it connect, but when I go into
ncftp, I am told that I am not connected to the internet.

I looked in the /var/log/messages file, and it said that proc file
system not mounted.  So we thought that the problem might be that proc
was not added to the /etc/fstab file.  I opened that file in vi and
found that the proc line was in the file, and when I tried "mount -av"
it said that none could not be mounted or was busy.  I have files in
my /proc directory, but I still cannot get the modem to dial.
