Ahhh From the README.cirrus in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc I see that there
is reference to problems on laptops with this driver. They recomend
taking note of the "noaccell" option.

Into your XF86Config file try adding 

Options "noaccel"

Also try looking at that readme, it contains lots of options and info.
