Hello, it's Dave...
I'm a newbie when it comes to all this routing business, and I've been
trying for some time now to get these two ethernet cards to talk to each
other, but to no avail.

Currently, I have two machines. One of them, spork, has it's eth0 set to netmask broadcast
The other machine, bofh, is set to netmask

Primarily, I just want the two cards to at least be able to talk to each
other (so I can ftp and telnet, etc). I have set a route on bofh for, and one on spork for (as you can see below), but they
still dont want to talk to each other (they dont give
ping responses.)

SPORK's ROUTING TABLE (localnet being

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface * UH 0 0 1 eth0
localnet * UH 0 0 0 eth0
loopback * U 0 0 3 lo

Eventually, I want bofh to serve as a gateway for spork, but as for now
I'm having to use sork for dialup because I'm having modem probs with
bofh. If anyone could help me out, that would be wonderful. Best wishes
for the new year! (please respond to spork at 777.net, not
root at spork.777.net)
