Take a look at QT if your intersted in C++ "http://www.troll.no".  Its not
absolutly free ( if you sell your software your expected to pay them for
thier work ) but it is good.  Also if you are interested in an IDE look at
www.codeforge.com.  I've done the obligatory hello worlds and I like it.
You can download a demo to try and if you like it its only 30$.  I don't
write much code any more but I'll buy a copy and play with it to support
the cause.
