[ale] Upgrade=Downgrade?

I had a DiamondStealth64 DRAM card.  I changed to DiamondStealth
64 VRAM card with 4 megs.  Now I can't get my X to come up in >1024x768
resolution.  Anyone using the new card or able to help?  Is there
a better (easier to use) tool for configuring X?
