ALE-ers,
I just called Vikki Welch on behalf of the ALE group and she said that
Mark's death this took everyone by surprise. He had been feeling
(relatively) good lately after a series of health problems and all
indications were that his health was looking up. He was apparently
reading technical manuals when he passed away.
She told me that in the past, Mark mentioned that he did not want any
moroseness over his death. An Irish wake wouldn't be spirited enough,
he said, "Make it a Scottish Wake!" His parents have requested that no
flowers be sent. Contributions to the American Heart Society or the
Humane Society in his memory would be appropriate.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
at Turner Funeral Home on North Decatur Rd.
I think it would be nice if we took up a collection at this evening's
meeting for a contribution to one or both of these charities.
As Vernard said, Mark was one of the people who helped get ALE started.
He contributed money to provide refreshments at meetings and when he
was able to make it to meetings, he brought InfoMagic CDs and other goodies.
-Eric.
