[ale] Compiling Kernel (It's to d*mn big)

hello,

I'm still having problems with my net card, but I think I might have a
solution. However, I need to recompile the kernel and insert the appropiate
module(s)! The only problem is that recently if I recompile my kernel its
total is 900,000 bytes. Much to large. I first had this problem with
the 1.2.13 kernel. The 1.2.11 kernel I compiled had no problem, but
since I've tried to compile 1.2.13 now compiling the 1.2.11 kernel is
just as large. I'm mostly accepting a lot of the defaults. There
are not much changes invovled. Has anyone had this problem?? Hell
when I compiled the 1.2.11 successfully I had more options enabled than
the kernel I'm building now, but the recent kernels are twice as large
as the successful 1.2.11.

thanks
charlie
