bell ringer, was ringing the terminal bell

Thank you for the many responses my bell question.  I was aware of the
possibility of sending the control g or octal equivalent.  What I was
curious about was whether there was an implememtation such as the 'tput
bel' I've seen in other UNIX versions.  Thanks again for the many responses.
