Adaptec 2940

If you use the onboard version of that controller (I guess you aren't),
you'll have to get a patch to use it, at least with 1.2.13.  It was kind
of frustrating to install too.  The onboard version is also known as the
aic7xxx chip (Our machines have the AIC-7870).  

You can get the patch for the AIC7xxx drives from
ftp://ftp.pcnet.com/users/eischen/Linux

This patch *says* it supports the AHA2940 boards too..

Q1.  What is the AIC7xxx mailing list?

A1.  This list facilitates communication between developers, testers
     and users of the driver software for the Adaptec SCSI controllers
     based on the AIC7xxx controller chip family.  These include the
     AHA274x, AHA284x, AHA2940, AHA-3940 and AHA-398x boards and embedded 
     AIC7xxx chips.

     The list was started to help out the development of the drivers
     for the Linux operating system.  The Linux and FreeBSD drivers both
     depend on the same sequencer code, thus both Linux and FreeBSD
     driver development appear on this list.

     This list is also the place to ask about getting your system running
     with the AIC7xxx products.  

Q2.  Do I have to subscribe to the mailing list to send mail to the list?

A2.  No.

Q3.  How do I subscribe?

A3.  Send a message to the program that does the dirty work of collecting
     mail, distributing mail and archiving mail.  Your message doesn't
     need a Subject: just the following text:
