Maddog, 

This is an easy question to answer. The Linux Journal Tux Tile is about
beliefs and rebellion (I stuck it on there in the late 90's or early
00's, when Linux was rebellion). Whether or not it's aesthetically
pleasing is irrelevant to me. 

The exact same thing could be said of the stickers on the bottom of my
skateboards or the Kiss stickers on my guitar case, or the Peace Symbol
I painted on the door of my first car (59 Plymouth bought in 1968).

For me, when it's not about function, it's about beliefs.
