[ale] Accessing Brother scanner from Linux

As promised, I ended up with an Espon ES-50 portable scanner and it works
flawlessly with Linux. Just plug in and go. Wife was very impressed with my
ability to keep the new home office from exploding tons of computer stuff
(Been on a purging kick since I moved from GA to North Carolina).
