[ale] Desktop OS thoughts

I have a couple of projects to get done first, but I'm also working on finding a new Desktop OS. My main desires are:

1. Open Source
2. Runs on RPi 4
3. Does not use systemd
4. Can run my usual desktop apps, like thunderbird and firefox.
5. Has the usual *nix command line tools

Of course, there's some intention of sending something to make sure the list is still awake...
