Yeah, I think I joined when I was volunteering for Showcases
way back when. My task: wire crimping for booths.... 
Oh, the pre-wireless days :)

I went to a bunch of meetings in that building on Tech campus
and remember Mindspring founders handing out install media when
they were starting up. Around the same time I always went to the
old Unix user group meetings at White Hall at Emory. Mainly for
the gatherings at Everybody's Pizza!

I'm mostly a lurker too, but so glad this list is still going.
And, yeah, been here just about my entire career
