[ale] Encrypting USB drive for Linux and Windows

Good afternoon sports fans,
I'd like to encrypt a USB drive so that it can be read on a Linux box or a Windows box. I'd rather encrypt the file system rather use something like 7zip and creating an encrypted archive (that's my backup solution). Any experiences and suggestions?
