[ale] eth numbering change

I had to create fake ethX devices once so MATLAB could actually keep
it's license keys intact. A similar process works to create ethX alias
to the real devices.
Hmm. That one oddball machine is going to bite me later as I don't
recall which one it was. Oops. Search for a CentOS box with Matlab and
a ethX nic name.
