Hmm.  Have you checked your "Sound" menu in "Settings"?  In my CM 10
(Android 4.4) phone, there's a "Screen lock sound" box.  When it is
checked, the speaker pops on screen lock/unlock. When it is unchecked, the
phone is silent. Surely they haven't _removed_ this feature in later
versions?
