My understanding is that most of the proprietary stuff is related to device specific drivers.
Generally, updates for particular AOSP device builds are updated as the sources are released.
All of the Google stuff is proprietary, but that is not part of AOSP, though links are provided for various GAPPs packages, some customized for the related AOSP rom project.

FWIW, pick any random android device out there, old or new, and with
very few exceptions you will not be able to get it to boot up (much less =
usefully operate) using what's provided by the Android Open Source
Project.
Nearly every android device relies on what amounts to a private,
proprietary fork of the AOSP codebase. Both low-level and application
code alike.
