A regular file copy does not get everything needed to boot the system, so
that will not work.  The best way to do this is to create an image backup
on an external drive, then boot from the Windows 7 DVD and restore the
image.  Here is an explanation of how to do the backup:

That article also explains how to perform the restore from the DVD (System
Image Recovery).

Once that's done, you will have the extra space available on the new drive,
which you can either expand the current Windows partition, make a new one,
or use it for another purpose (such as Linux).  I don't think you should
need a driver for the hard drive -- it's probably just confused because of
how you performed the file copy.

I'm not sure if I would use Windows 10 preview as your everyday system,
since Microsoft is collecting metrics on what people are doing, so there
could be some privacy issues there (that's the nature of the Insider
program).
