Ah! OK!  I didn't even notice the difference between the period and the
colon. Thank you for pointing that out.

I haven't tested it yet. I wanted to make sure it's OK with the client and
the network team before I did anything crazy. Haha!

The #:# notation, like "eth0:0", implies an alias (secondary IP).

The #.# notation, like "eth0.0", implies a vlan (use vconfig).

On RHEL/CentOS like systems, you can add IPADDR2= and PREFIX2= (or
NETMASK2=) lines to the config file ifcfg-eth0 to add the IP at boot
(assuming NetworkManager isn't mangling anything).

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD,  an app you want to
package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE Studio a
try.
