[ale] Ubuntu/Unity Custom Launchers?

I just converted from Kubuntu/KDE to Ubuntu/Unity(?).  In KDE I could drop
my ATerm on the launcher bar and pass it options for font, geometry, etc.
 Is there a way to do that in Unity?  Google isn't very helpful due to
information overload.
