Any idea why I cannot get this disk to partition as a single 4TB drive? A
quick Google reveals many people experiencing this problem. I tried this:

Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
(parted) mklabel gpt
Warning: The existing disk label on /dev/sdg will be destroyed and all data
on
this disk will be lost. Do you want to continue?
Yes/No? Yes
(parted) print
Model: Generic External (scsi)
Disk /dev/sdg: 2000GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt

fdisk is of no use either.

btw this is a brand new free-standing Seagate drive that was never in an
enclosure or such, I know sometimes the manufacturers do strange stuff with
drives in enclosures.

Thanks
ed
