[ale] saving TV to computer

having never done this... I told my uncle ( the one who I just blew away
his windows install & set him up with Linux Mint with MATE desktop.)

he has an OTA HD antennae and watches STUFF on TV. How can he record
that on his laptop, hopefully using VLC. I think a VGA/RCA adapter will
make it work, is there much more tuit??
