[ale] SSD speeds

I put a 1TB 2.5" Samsung EVO SSD into my new ThinkPad laptop.  I love
it!  I'm no longer ever sitting in disk-wait -- everything is CPU or
Network bound instead of disk I/O bound!  It's wonderful.
