Indeed, DDR2 memory is EXTREMELY expensive right now.  I just upgraded a
server from 16G to 32G of DDR2 ECC RAM (upgrading from 8x2GB to 8x4GB
sticks).  I found a very cheap set on Ebay for $150, but Crucial.com was
asking for more than $300 for the same sticks.  I wanted to go to 64G,
but that was over $1000!!

I suspect DDR2 prices are just going to continue to rise.  It would be
cheaper for me to replace the mobo and get 256G of DDR3 ram than to
upgrade to 64G in the existing server!
