I’m pretty sure Comcast doesn’t have the 2 year requirement.
Dish actually came into my condo association a few years back with the idea of putting a single dish for shared service on our building. They wanted us to sign 2 year agreements but would only guarantee the rate for the first year. Most of us decided signing a blank check like that was a pretty stupid idea.

I use Comcast internet and really don’t have many problems with it. Personally I try to give as little money to Awful Telegraph & Telephone as possible. I didn’t like them when they were monopoly up through the 80s and now they’re re-assembling like Terminator 2 there’s been little reason to like them any more than I did then. Any company that has to force you to sign a 2 year agreement to keep you from leaving them clearly knows that new customers are apt to leave them in a hurry once they actually experience their service otherwise.
2 year agreements are the norm.. I signed one with Dish, with DirecTV, and now with AT&T Uverse. I also had one with my small ISP before Uverse. I loved that company, but they could only get me DSK speeds, and now I have 20 Mb speed with Uverse, plus VOIP phone and TV. I also have a 2 year agreement with Verizon for my cell phones. I was pissed because right after I switched from Dish to DirecTV I got a letter from AT&T saying Uverse was finally available out here. I had to wait over a year before the contract ran out.
I really did like Atlantic Nexus as an ISP, I love the personal service.. I could email or call him any time.. and he knew what he was talking about, and if it was an AT&T issue, he called them & took care of it..
