Sorry to bother with your Linux install but ... I will recommend Antix
Linux. Based on Debian packages but has nice install script ( ubuntu
like) and is very light (icewm) and lower memory consumption (after
boot in IceWM takes only 56 MB RAM in 32-bit version).
