What Distro are you using, sorry I am wonder, as I got an old imac
running openSUSE 12.3 duo core 2 gigs for memory, I have no issues.

Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
